Hello! I’m April Rashad. I am a wife, a homeschooling mother of three beautiful children, a lifelong artist and graphic designer, and the founder of The Creative Collective Arts and Crafts Club.

My journey with art has always been about pushing boundaries and exploring different mediums, but its roots trace back to my own childhood. As a kid, I was inherently curious and undeniably "messy." I was incredibly fortunate to have a neighbor who understood that wild creative spark. She would invite me over, open her doors, and let me explore, experiment, and make a mess without restrictions. That gift of unstructured, trusted freedom changed my life, and it is the exact environment I am dedicated to cultivating for the next generation of makers.

My Artistic & Design Background

Before founding this creative collective, I spent over 10 years working professionally in the design world, balancing rigorous technical layout standards with classical fine-arts execution. My formal education allowed me to study art across some of the most inspiring creative hubs in the world:

• The University of Maryland: Earned my degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design.

• The American University of Rome (Italy): Studied classical art, history, and fine art techniques abroad.

• London, UK: Conducted intensive, immersive art studies focusing on contemporary design and history.

From Co-Op to Collective

For the past several years, I have poured my passion into teaching hands-on art classes within our local homeschool community and co-ops. Guiding my own three children alongside local students has been the ultimate joy of my career.

There is a distinct, magical moment when a child is handed authentic, raw materials—like air-dry clay, real wool yarn, or rich watercolor pigment—and given permission to just create. Seeing that sudden spark of absolute joy and inspiration in a child’s eyes when they successfully express themselves is precisely why I built this club.

The Creative Collective Arts and Crafts Club is my way of passing the torch. I invite your children to step into our studio, let their curiosity run wild, and discover the incredible artist within.
